Hi Cat
Just to say thanks for a fantastic course. Wonderfully relaxing setting, great tuition and real encouragement. It felt like a complete indulgence to spend 3 days in the studio - real food for the soul! I'd definitely recommend Joe Daisy and will be back soon. Thanks again for all your help!

Dear Cat
It's Monday morning and I'm back to reality and the Monday chores and wishing SO much that I was still in the studio with you!
Ross and I had the most brilliant time and feel we learned so much from you in such a very short time. You explained everything clearly and patiently and made it all such fun.
We have decided we will make this an annual Mother/Daughter treat and so look forward over time to enjoying all the other courses you offer.
Thank you very very much - you were a fantastic teacher and we will both be singing the praises of Joe Daisy - the location - the materials - the inspiration.
All good wishes
Pam Pheby

Thanks so much and hopefully see you again.

Thank you Colin for a enjoyable and inspiring course. My daughters told me that the landscape I did on the weekend course was the best painting I had ever done!
I learnt so much and you explained the Golden Section rule about composition so clearly. I had never understood what it meant before! Needless to say, all the studio facilities were excellent and I really appreciated that we could have tea or coffee at any time!
I hope to return in the not too distant future. Thank you so much for your excellent teaching combined with loads of patience and good humour. Best wishes Eleanor March 2010

Hi Caroline and Kat,
Just wanted to say a massive thank you for such a rewarding three days on the portrait course. The boys and I had our eyes opened to what we could achieve when painting portraits and we now have 14 canvases to prove that we can actually do it. The course was simply brilliant with just the right balance of teaching and hands-on artistry, giving us the confidence to experiment with different styles whilst still building from the basics that deliver a recognisable portrait. We each achieved far more than we thought possible before coming on the course, and not only that, we had fun doing it. Well done for making a difficult subject seem easy! We look forward to seeing you again soon! All the best, Richard, (Jamie and Daniel) Feb 2010

'It's brilliant - I totally understand now I've learnt about the structure of the face. Cat was fantastic in her tuition. I was completely daunted before by the thought of a portrait but now I'm confident and very excited!' Caroline Feb 2010 |

Caroline. I know it was a few weeks ago but I wanted to thank you for a brilliant creative weekend.I learnt more in 2 days than I have done in years.I knew how I wanted to paint but didnt know the techniques. You have inspired me so much and it was a lovely atmosphere and interesting people to share it with.I will be back for another weekend and a spanish trip. You are so patient and encouraging when teaching.I went home inspired yet rested.
Thanks - Dot (Beers) |
Hallo Caroline and Colin
Just to say how much I enjoyed and was inspired by the course. You have really given me the courage to lose my inhibitions about painting and paint and really try to create in my own style. Thank you so much. I will definitely be back on another course later in the year. I am sitting in my office right now wishing I was in the studio! Sarah - Feb 2010 |
|

"Well, I just tried another provider and it just reafirms my belief - JoeDaisy is the best. This other tutor (on a different course)
rubbed my drawing out - put in his own and then repainted it
- after I had painted it!! What was that all about? I thought it
should be about me and not him!! So yes, you are the best
- with YOU it is about US and you never touch our paintings!!
Thanks reaffirmation made - I'll be back next year! Valerie. |

"Just wanted to say what a fantastic time we had last weekend painting with acrylics under Colin’s relaxed and encouraging guidance. I had no idea that the studio was in such a pretty location….Your web-site doesn’t say that it’s a no-through road and not plagued by cars ….likewise the B&Bs (we stayed at Neal’s Farm which was also fantastically tranquil)". Jenny |
'This is Brilliant. I don't know how you do it. Such energy,
such enthusiam, such exceptional teaching & great products.
As I think I told you - I've spent 3 years at art school and never
learnt any of what I learnt with you. I think I said during the weekend
'this is brilliant' at least 321 times! ' Nancy - Feb 2009 |

Caroline " I just want to thank you for the weekend.
It was so invigorating, and surprisingly, great fun.
I feel I have learnt a lot--- and that's down to you.
Thanks"

" Wow!!!, what a great time I had.
Cat really stretched me into a new place in my head and opened doors I didn't even know existed, for me; she was great.
I came away with a new sense of purpose and a whole new dimension to my painting. The tuition was encouraging and direct without being intimidating or opinionated and the high quality of materials made the whole process a real pleasure. I'm converted and will be doing a lot more Acrylic work in the future, that is, once I have mortgaged my home to pay for the paint and the new brushes. The painting I did of the Tulips is already hanging on my little girl Amy's' bedroom wall, she loves it and the other two paintings are now displayed in my little "studio".
The group was just the right size and the eclectic mix of personalities was really great; I have made some friends in the process.
Thanks again for a relaxed but highly rewarding experience.
Regards"
Ed Hayes
PS. Thanks to Robin for the lunches; the B&B, Neils Farm was very, very good and a charming and very hospitable lady. |

"Caroline and I would just like to thank you for a great weekend Cat, we had the most amazing time, totally different to what we usually do! We have now got the bug! We are going to book on another course for next year but have to wait and see when Caroline’s holidays are as she has school on Saturdays.
See you next year! Regards"

Dear Caroline et all at Joe Daisy
"Thank you thank you thank you for a great weekend, I thought I was stuck in copy and follow mode from boring painting books which fill the shelves of Waterstones.
Getting out of the bookshop and into your studio is the best choice I ever made. I feel you have opened a whole new world of possibility for me and my painting. More More More I will be back"
Stephen
PS Ive been telling everyone how great it is…expect more bookings ! |

Caroline & Colin,
A quick big thank you for a fantastic weekend. I arrived back home so relaxed and happy and proud of myself!!
You have created a great atmosphere up there and it’s incredibly inspiring.
My giant cucumbers, that actually turned out pretty much like cactuses in the end, are happily hanging on the guest room wall looking like they’ve been painted by somebody who knows what they are doing!
Can’t wait to come back for more.
Hope to see you soon! Ancki |
"Thanks again for a most productive weekend, wish I lived nearer to JoeDaisy, you would have so much trouble getting me out of your studio. Again you have been so generous in sharing you expertise, encouraging hungry students to find 'our own voice' and have the confidence to paint in our own style rather than producing Caroline Clones! Warning! I will be back!" Geraldine |
|
"Caroline really is different. I've been on many courses and they 'part teach you' almost as if they want your money to learn more.
Caroline is different, she teaches you everything you REALLY need to know, so you go away confident and pretty excited. Becuase it is so good, you want to come back anyway. This really is pretty exciting and different teaching - you get your money's worth and 100% more. and I never write thank yous!" Brenda |
|
|
"Thank you again for a really great week-end. I really enjoyed and got a lot out of your teaching and guidance.
Your style and the quietly focussed atmosphere of the studio are just perfect for me". Bruno |

'Probably the best painting course - Liz . |

'Thank you so so much for such a wonderful painting experience.
When I look at the photograph I can't believe
I painted it - but I did , every brush stroke is mine.
Caroline you are such a generous, inspiring teacher,
I can't wait to return to JoeDaisy.
Alex thank you for taking such good care of us ,
for the delicious lunches and for going the extra miles
and delivering me all the way to Heathrow, a kindness I did not
expect but very much appreciated. I know of no other organisation
that takes such good care of it's clients! Geraldine |
"The course was outstandingly good. Intensive, yet somehow relaxed and inspirational. Course content just flowed from one subject to another with ease &, exceptional cleverness, so I was learning without being lectured! I'm sort of in shock as to what I acheived and after three days I'm still marvelling at how much I learnt in a casual but exceptional way.
Quite incredible!" Bob |
|
"Caroline was brilliant - she has a unique ability to inspire and encourage yet pointed out my shortcomings in a refreshingly direct yet unintimidating way.
I learnt a huge amount. There was a great atmosphere in the studio - we were really made to feel at home and relax. Fantastic tutor, great work space, terrific atmosphere. What more could anyone ask for?"
Ed |
|
|
"I arrived at the studio totally clueless and
I've come away with so much knowledge. In just 2 days,
its quite unbelievable but I am very keen to learn more. I now look at paintings in a totally different way
and I have joined the arts club at work" Grace |
|
|
Just wanted to thank you both for a fabulous weekend. I am feeling very
depressed this morning as the reality of work has hit and all I want to do
is paint. You are very clever Caroline, and your teaching is brilliant! The
whole atmosphere of the studio was lovely and Alex's hospitality was
appreciated. The paintings from Saturday have already been put up in my two
daughters' bedrooms, but I think 'Whitby' will be a 'work in progress' for a
long time.
Hope to get back as soon as possible probably on the abstract weekend. Jane |

I would like to thank you very much for a
most fantastic week end. I really enjoyed the wk end
& learnt so much ! Your approach is so good .
The time passed so quickly & although we were all
working so intensively for the two days,
I felt exhilarated , very uplifted & invigorated!. Aruna |

I had to drop you a note to say how much I enjoyed the beginners weekend – Thank you again for your patience, clarity of instruction and above all, passion for your art – you are a true inspiration. Lynne

Just a few lines to say how much I enjoyed the course. It definately
gave me the confidence to continue my journey of discovery
with my painting, I'm still buzzing with enthusiasm and ideas.
Thank you so very much. Lesley

"You really are an excellent teacher...allowing each member in the
group to develop individual style, sharing your time equally between all of
us ( no favourites, very important!) In fact, you were really like some kind
of super painting angel flitting between us all offering advice and making
suggestions, lifting flagging spirits as we all wrestled with this desire to
create ! Thank you so much !" Rose -

"Caroline is the most enthusiastic and earnest painter that I
know and she is excellent at passing on her knowledge and
enthusiasm" Viv |
This is to say thank you once again for the fantastic experience of the last two days. The course was exactly what I needed. I am so energised, inspired, excited and passionate again about my painting and you have helped me achieve all of that alongside giving me many new technical skills. Above all I feel I have come away with a new way of seeing - AND HOW FANTASTIC IS THAT - in just two days. I hope I will be back very soon for some more of the magic that seems to pervade your studio. Thanks to Alex too for making us feel so welcome and 'at home'. Take care and much love - Maggie Somerset
|
|
I was feeling excited but scared when I arrived, in fact I sat in the car for ten minutes! As soon as you walk into the Studio you feel OK. Caroline is there with a big smile and welcome - then you get a cup of tea or coffee or water (even wine!) and meet everyone else - it was great. Loved it, can't recommend it enough. Thanks to Alex as well for the help and endless cups of tea! Joan |
|
|
This is above EXCELLENT. This was the BEST two days I've ever spent painting. I painted in acrylics, oils and mixed media. Learnt everything I thought a degree course would cover - in JUST two days. Couldn't believe it. STUNNING. Caroline is the best tutor I've come across, immensely talented but able to COMPLETELY assess our needs and correct our painting. BREATHTAKING - HONESTLY it's such a revelation to find something like this. I think she needs a medal or tea with the Queen OR SOMETHING! Thank you SO much! Sue

Alison and I met up for lunch today and are still on a high after our weekend with you :o) I am hoping to return to celebrate my 40th birthday at Joe Daisy with a few of my friends next year
Thankyou so much for loosening us all up and giving us the confidence to have a go. Your enthusiasm and gentle patience was all the inspiration we needed! Helen

"I have to say - NOBODY does it better! Great environment,
excellent
materials, I was like a kid in a candy shop -
so relaxed but just right
for learning and Caroline is the BEST!
She gave her all and her all is
JUST PERFECT! Sue |

Caroline. I just want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for a wonderful week. What a journey, both artisitically and personally! You were so good at nurturing us in an un-judgemental way. Brilliant and inspiring, hospitable and generous – I can’t stop singing your praises. Barbara |
Hi Cat
sorry very remiss of me not to thank you for a great course Your instruction, advice and encouragement was fantastic You were inspirational and your obvious passion and love of painting was infectious.
My painting "A week end in August 2009 at JoeDaisy studio with Cat" now hangs on the wall in my creative room ! I now know its a starting point for my adventure into expressing myself on canvas and that you made it happen . Yes l know I will never produce a masterpiece but you know what l no longer need to.
Thanks a million Roger |
|
Cat is an extremely hardworking and talented tutor and artist. I can say that with some authority as for my sins and a few bob I was a school inspector. I had a tiring ( I didn't realise that painting was such bloody hard work ) worthwhile in that I my learning ramp would have launched rockets. I just watched and listened, did what she said without question and it worked for me. I ran through a gamut of emotions from great satisfaction when things worked, frustration when my skills would not work for me ( I hate lavender ) However my surprise after the long journey home was that Marie recognised my painting of Port Isaac Cornwall immediately. Tell Cat not to fret about the photo and to put it in the memory bank of a job well done.
Satisfied customer from Manchester. Eugene |

Thanks so much for a terrific weekend. It was a great bunch of folks and we really enjoyed ourselves, your fantastic tuition and coordination. Special thanks to Alex of course. He is great.
Take care and good luck with the Spain plans -- they are huge! |

It was a great weekend. I really enjoyed it and liked the work you helped me produce. As I said at the weekend you delivered exactly what it said on the 'tin'.

Thank so much for a fantastic couple of days at Mapledurham.
Your claim to bring out the artist in the individual student is totally true. You have a great gift to encourage and inform with such a light touch the student barely knows it is happening.
I have never before come away from a painting course with so many canvasses of finished or near finished work. Mind blowing. I feel really invigorated about my work. Chris |

'The Best Course I've been on' Marie June 2008
Thank
you so much for the photos and for a fantastic course. Also thanks for
your kindness and patience when I was feeling a bit unsure of myself! I
learnt so much and am inspired to carry on. I am back in work today but
all I wanted to do was stay home and paint. You really helped me to
believe that I can be an artist which is something I have wanted to do
for longer than I care to remember! I am going to set up a studio in
the spare room and will definitely be buying artists quality paint as
it was a joy to use.
Can you also say thank you to Alex for me. He was so kind and helpful
and I really appreciate the lifts to and from the station and the
farm. |
|
|
I just wanted to write you an email to say thank you so much for the course the other weekend. You taught me so much in terms of skills which I am very excited to be using but also to chill out a bit about my painting. I think I had started to take everything too seriously from the wrong perspective and I feel much lighter and much more excited about painting then I have in about a year! So it was a fantastic experience and thank you very very much. Georgina

I'm brimming
with enthusiasm and
good intentions.

uninterrupted. Thank you.

washing up bowl, I was astounded at her capability
to paint anything in any style. Bill |

with the best of everything. I've never been on such a good
course. Feel as if I've crammed whole degree in one weekend!
Thanks Caroline. I will be back!! Brian |

Again, very many thanks for a brilliant couple of days. I thoroughly
enjoyed the experience and will certainly recommend you to my other
painting friends. Maggie |

Thanks Caroline
I really, really had a great time. I will certainly be back though will get some practice in first. Perhaps later in the year - and I am tempted by Spain too!
I went for a long walk today and realised that what i want to put on canvas is what I feel - not what I see - so I'm going to use that as my 'concept' does that sound ok?
Take care - you are a brilliant teacher.

I just wanted to write a quick email to thank you, and Colin also, for a really lovely and inspiring two days. I was feeling in a bit of a sad slump about my art and I cant believe how lovely arcrylics are to use! I felt very lucky to experience the two days in such a lovely group with such an inspiring tutor! I even loved doing the charcoal!
Thank you again Caroline it was really a special treat to come on your course and meet you all, and I really enjoyed it.
with warm wishes and thanks Vicki |

I wanted to write to thank you very sincerely for such a fun weekend. We left behind our busy busy lives, husbands, children and the M4 and had such a relaxing weekend in Mapledurham and enjoyed every minute of it.
You had thought of lots of little extras to make the weekend so relaxing - all my favourites - chocolate, wine and sweets but even more importantly a wonderful environment with great teaching and lots of laughs. It was fabulous having you as our tutor and we all would love to come and visit you again one day.
Thanks Caroline - you're a star. Jo |

Just wanted to say WOW what a brilliant weekend I had with you and the
others last weekend! I am still on a high and my brain is working
overtime - creatively for a change:) Thank-you thank-you thank-you for
your generous support and positive comments, although I am sure there
were times when you thought - holy what is that!
I hope to see you very soon.

I wanted to get in touch because I feel on Sunday I was too dazed by the amount you had taught me and the unbelievable sense of achievement. I look now at my efforts, particularly the acrylic, and still can't believe they were made by me.
The rational part of myself shut down my creativitity at 17 and I really feared I'd lost it forever. You've given it back to me and there are no words to say how much that means to me. Sam - |
To Cat. ´I just wanted to say thanks for a great course the other week.
I 'm amazed I learned so much in just two days which must be a credit to your teaching. It was a great bunch of people and the atmosphere was generous and supportive throughout. I was thrilled with my final painting and now I have an easel for Christmas and my cosmotop brush on the way I can't wait to carry on.
I'd have sent feedback sooner but been busy emailing pictures of my canvas and recommending your course to everyone I know!; thanks again. Kind regards´ Louise |

I just wanted to drop you a note to say how much I enjoyed the painting course last weekend with Colin.
He is a great teacher, and it was with a really nice group of people - both of which made the whole experience very enjoyable. Sarah |

Hi Cat,
Thank you so much for such a brilliant two days and also making my mother welcome too. I really enjoyed the experience, also painting alongside such a lovely group of ladies. I can't wait to come back in July, this has been truly inspirational for me and am now going to buy the equipment I need to start painting at home. Thanks once again. Diane |
Thanks for sending the photos through so swiftly - they were great, also those on your web page.
Thank you for an excellent weekend, patiently encouraging and sharing your expertise and creative insight, not to mention providing for all our needs. I was overwhelmed by your generosity.
Special thanks to Alex also who did such a great job of looking after us...especially in that heat. Norma |

The weekend was such a wonderful experience for me. I had been trying not to think about what we’d do beforehand so that I wouldn’t be anxious about what I was letting myself in for having never even picked up a paint brush before. However, I needn’t have worried, I felt at ease and at home immediately in your lovely studio. It’s not often I get any “me” time what with work, 2 very lively 9 year olds and a husband who is often abroad so to have two whole days to myself was just blissful and this was the perfect way to indulge myself. I’d love to come back again.
My family were even very complimentary about my paintings. My daughter has chosen the bluebell for her bedroom and I’ve earmarked a great spot for the still life. Alison |

Just thought we would drop you a line to let you know how much we enjoyed our weekend of education and creation. We had a look on your website this morning and were both very proud to see our efforts on your student’s page. Family and friends are logging on right now to see what a weekend in your tender care can do for a budding artist. We will consolidate all that we have learnt and then return for more tuition. You have given us both the confidence to go on and hopefully create paintings we could never have imagined were possible for us to attempt. What a perfect way for a mother and daughter to spend a weekend Margaret and Jean |
A REVIEW FROM TRIP ADVISOR - CLICK
This is an art studio in a lovely spanish village close to Marbella that runs various courses over weeks/weekends/days. I went on one of the acrylic courses and had a super fun time! I learnt so much about colour, composition and technique - but some of the best things were the relaxed atmosphere in the airy studio, the positive encouragement by the artists teaching to develop your own style and 'bring out the artist in you!', the great locations around Monda that we painted and just all round opportunity to indulge in painting. I would recommend this to any body - whether you can already paint/draw or not - it's just such a relaxing fun time. I loved it and will definitely be going back!!
